Differentiated circuits resume activities in March

Wednesday March 4th, 2009

Starting March 5th, the Heritage Education Program resumes the Public School Circuit activities intended to serve the students and teachers of the public school system in Ouro Preto and Mariana. The circuit includes activities that foster a deeper appreciation and disclosure of the region’s cultural and natural heritage through a train ride and visits to the Program’s spaces. Train rides have been offered on Thursdays since 2006.

At the Ouro Preto and Mariana stations, the students participate in activities that offer playful themes related to the region’s natural, immaterial, and technological-scientific heritage and environmental education.

The train departs from Mariana in the morning with close to 100 students, bound for Ouro Preto, where they have a chance to participate in activities at the Cultural Tent, the Environmental Sound Car, and other exhibition spaces at the station. At the end of the morning, the train makes its return trip, carrying the students back to the Mariana Station.

In addition to the school Circuit, the Trem da Vale also resumes the Community Circuit, which was begun in the middle of 2008 and has been widely accepted by the communities of Ouro Preto and Mariana. The circuit includes monitored visits to the Program’s spaces, as well as a free train ride from Ouro Preto to Mariana or from Mariana to Ouro Preto.

The Community Circuit is aimed at groups of associations organized in Ouro Preto, Mariana, and surrounding areas. Those interested in participating in this activity may schedule it on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Ouro Preto Station or by phoning 3551-7310. At this time, 190 seats will be available to Mariana and 80 to Ouro Preto.
