Check out the Winter Festival activities at Ouro Preto and Mariana Stations
Friday July 10th, 2009During the month of July, Ouro Preto and Mariana’s streets will become stages for the performance of artistic and cultural activities, which are attractive to visitors from several regions seeking leisure, culture and education.
The theme of this year’s Winter Festival is Clube da Esquina e o chão da nossa terra, as a way to pay a tribute to the 1960’s musical movement to which great names of the Brazilian music were engaged, such as Milton Nascimento, Toninho Horta, Flávio Venturini, Tavinho Moura and Beto Guedes, just to mention a few.
The program that will excite Ouro Preto and Mariana from July 08 thru 26 comprises exhibits, expositions, workshops, lectures, soirees, seminars and concerts.
The stations of the Trem da Vale Patrimonial Education Program will host various Festival activities.
The Cultural Tent of Ouro Preto Station will host the workshops Circusy Techniques, from July 13 through 17, and Juggling, from July 21 thru 24, destined for youngsters, in addition to the Integrated Circuit of Patrimonial Education - Activities for a guided tour, on July 21 and 22, and finally, Patrimonial Education - A practice inside and outside school, from July 14 to 17, directed for educators and students from adjacent areas.
The Cultural tent will also feature, on July 12 and 25 respectively, the plays Othello, presented by Nefasto Grupo, and O grande Circo Misto, presented by Grupo Trampulin, Teatro de Anônimo, Acrobático Fratelli, Cia Navegante and Os Losna. The exhibit titled Memória e Cultura will take place on July 15, and will show the archive of videocabins produced by Vale Registrar.
From July 13 through 17, the Mariana Station Library will host the workshop Cultura Digital na Maturidade, which is aimed at introducing people aged 40 and over to the Internet environment, in an attempt to make this tool available and to provide knowledge in an autonomous and creative way.
On July 18, Mariana’s Library will also host the soiree Paisagens da Janela, comprising literary presentations and recitings of Clube da Esquina’s songs as well as texts by writers from Minas Gerais State.
On July’s Saturdays and Sundays, the ‘Sensory trails’ will propitiate a walk along Ouro Preto streets, focused on the city’s natural and architectonic landscape in the search of experiences that awake the participant’s view and sensibility to the region’s heritage.
